When a loved one dies, the family members are not only left to deal with all the emotions associated with the loss, but are also sometimes left with a plethora of pragmatic tasks and problems to sort through. It is not unusual for disputes to arise relating to the distribution of the estate of the person who has deceased. Even when there is a Will, disputes can arise that may destroy the family. Even though the law recognizes a person's right to choose who will inherit his or her property, there are often very good reasons why a will may be challenged.

Mediation allows the family to work out an agreement that satisfies the needs of everyone, without the destructive process of the court system, which can take an enormous amount of time and financial resources.

The Mediation process is more likely to enable family members to remain connected in a positive manner. Wherever possible, Mediation attempts to resolve disputes without court action. Mediation also minimizes the financial and emotional costs associated with a disputed estate.
